A Few of My Favorite Things
This post is a little different, a little fun, and hopefully at least a little bit helpful. I’m going to share with you a few of my most favorite purchases this year. You may decide you want or need some of these items, too, or perhaps you’re still frantically looking for that perfect gift for someone on your Christmas gift list. If you have Amazon Prime, you still have time to order gifts and get them in time for Christmas!
In full disclosure, these links all go to Amazon, and as an Amazon Associate, I earn a small commission from qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. That said, these truly are favorites of mine, most of which I use every day.
Extra Large Brazilian Mayan Hammock
This amazingly comfortable hammock is probably my most favorite purchase this year. Over a year ago, I switched to sleeping in a hammock every night and haven’t miss my bed one bit! In fact, I got rid of it because it was only taking up space. I liked the hammock I had originally, but about a month ago I realized it was stretched way out of shape on one side and pitching me to the side. So I ordered this cotton Mayan hammock to replace it, and I love it! It lays so much better and I also love the fact that it’s made in Honduras by Mayan and Lenca Indians.
Remote Control Light Switch
Soon after I started sleeping in a hammock, I realized I needed a way to turn the light on and off from my hammock. This handy remote switch solves that problem. I plugged a lamp into this outlet switch and I use the remote to turn it on and off. I keep a basket on the floor next to the hammock as my “night stand,” and it holds such things as tissues, my sleep mask, eye drops, flashlight, etc., all within easy reach from the hammock. The remote switch goes in the basket, too.
3D Contoured Comfortable Sleep Mask
Continuing along with the sleep theme for another favorite item, I can’t help but mention this wonderful sleep mask. I use it for two reasons: to block out all light and to keep my eyes from getting too dry. This mask does both jobs well! I especially like the contoured shape so that the mask doesn’t press against my eyelids. The adjustable velcro strap keeps it from being too tight or too loose. It’s just an extremely soft and comfortable sleep mask! The affordable price is a big plus, too.
Warm Thermal Crew Socks for Women
If your feet are often colder than the rest of you, you owe it to yourself to buy these amazingly warm socks. Sorry, guys, these are for women, but they do make thermal socks for men, too. I just can’t vouch for them because I haven’t tried them. But if they’re anything like these warm crew socks, you’ll find them to be extremely warm.
Himalayan Salt Basket Lamp
As the days have gotten shorter as we head into the winter months, I’ve been enjoying the warm relaxing glow created by this cool-looking salt lamp made from 100% pure natural Himalayan salt chunks. I especially appreciate its cheery glow on gloomy and cloudy days. Many tout health benefits from these lamps, but I can’t especially lay claim to that benefit personally. But if it’s cleaning the air while serving as an attractive addition to the living room, I certainly won’t complain about that!
Daily Light on the Daily Path
This favorite item is the only one I’m including that I didn’t just purchase this past year. In fact, the Daily Light on the Daily Path devotional has been part of my life ever since I can remember. My parents read from it their entire married life, and my father still uses it almost every day since my mother passed away. First published in the King James Version in 1794, the Daily Light was compiled by the Bagster family who grouped Scripture verses by topic to create short daily morning and evening readings. While I would never use this devotional to replace serious Bible reading, it’s a great resource for focusing my mind on God’s thoughts in the midst of a busy schedule. Below are links to three different editions of this devotional, the first in the New King James Version (NKJV), the second in the New International Version (NIV), and the third in the English Standard Version (ESV).
ChomChom Roller Pet Hair Remover
As the proud owner of a tribe of cuddly kitties that leave their fur everywhere, I can’t praise this pet hair remover enough. The ChomChom Roller picks up pet hair better than anything else I’ve tried, including the vacuum cleaner. It never wears out and can be used over and over again. After running it over furniture or clothing, I simply open the door to the little chamber that collects the hair and any other debris and empty it into the trash can. It can’t get any easier than that!
Rubber Hair and Lint Remover Brushes
While the ChomChom Roller does a great job of picking up pet hair on flat surfaces, these rubber detailing hair and lint removal brushes get into the crevices and corners that no roller can reach. They work well to remove other dirt and lint, too, not just cat or dog hair. Some people even use them on their pets. I guess that makes sense. Why not get rid of all those loose hairs before they end up on your clothing or furniture? If you have pets, and even if you don’t, do yourself a favor and grab these brushes and the ChomChom and make your housecleaning chores a whole ton easier in 2020!
That’s a Wrap
So, there you have it: a few of my favorite purchases in 2019. If you’re like me and haven’t finished your Christmas shopping yet, maybe this list will trigger some great gift ideas for people on your list.
I’m all about making life easier so we can spend more time connecting with others and living the amazing purpose God put us here to live!
