Hi! I’m Fern, and this is one of my little sidekicks, Mama Kitty. Although this site is based on my name, it really isn’t about me. It’s about encouraging and inspiring those who follow Jesus to know and live the purpose for which He created them.
For over 20 years, I ran a website called “Purposeful Singleness.” I was (and still am) passionate about not wasting any period of our lives waiting for the next thing to happen. Jesus’ parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 and Luke 19:12-27 is sobering to me. It’s important that we take what we’ve been given and invest it into the Kingdom of God. That is, after all, why we’re here!
In recent years, I have felt God’s prompting to take this message to a broader audience. It’s not just singles who get stuck waiting for life to happen, or caught up in the comparison game, or who attach their identity with a role or the lack of one.
Most of us want to make an impact on our world. We want our lives to count for something. For those of us who are followers of Jesus, we want our lives to bring Him glory.
But so often we struggle to know how to do this. We tend to compare ourselves to others and try to be who they are. Or we feel compelled by others to do what they’re doing and help them fulfill their purpose and mission.
But God isn’t calling us to be someone else or do what they’re doing. He calls us to be ourselves as He designed us, and to fulfill the purpose He created us to live.
Living a purposeful life requires that we:
- Know who God is and who He is to us.
- Know who we are as God designed and created us.
- Know how to relate to others in ways that align with our purpose.
It is in this state of living authentically and purposefully as God created us — while relying on Him to be our Everything (the key) — that we find true significance and connection with others and the impact we long to make with our lives.
I’m glad you’re here and I hope you’ll stick around as we explore how to have an amazing relationship with God as our Everything, how to find fulfillment as we discover and live our life purpose, and how to relate to others in mutually life-giving ways.
